Preparing to work with RITM SDR USRP
Assembly of the RITM SDR USRP kit
Before you start using RITM SDR USRP, you need to assemble the equipment. Make sure you are grounded so as not to damage sensitive electronics due to static discharge.
-
Install the SD card with the current firmware in the appropriate slot.
-
Make a choice of interface: RITM SDR USRP supports two types of software interfaces. The choice is made through connection to a specific network port:
-
PS-TCP: use the connector
RJ45, signed asPS-ETH; -
UHD: use the connector
RJ45, signed asPL-ETH.Simultaneous connection of both interfaces via a network switch is allowed.
-
-
To work on the PS-TCP interface, you can also use a Wi-Fi adapter by installing it in any free USB connector.
-
Plug in the power supply and turn on the SDR USRP RITM.
Network Setup
The next step is to make sure that the computer can communicate with the SDR USRP RITM. Depending by default on which program interface was selected as the main one, the SDR USRP RITM will have one or another IP address.
| Program interface | Physical interface | By default IP address |
|---|---|---|
PS-TCP |
1 GigE |
192.168.2.67 |
UHD |
1 GigE |
192.168.2.100 |
It is recommended that you first connect the USRP directly to the computer and set the IP address on the computer to the 192.168.2.x subnet (for example, 192.168.2.5).
If you use an automatic IP configuration service, for example Network Manager make sure that it is either turned off or configured so that it does not change the network device. In extreme cases, this may lead to the fact that it will be impossible to connect to the RITM SDR USRP
|
If the network settings are correct, the device’s software search will find your SDR USRP RITM and display information about it. You will also be able to check the availability of the device using echo requests, for example, by typing the following into the command prompt:
ping 192.168.2.67
Firmware update
The update takes place by replacing the SD card with the appropriate firmware. In case of loss of the SD card, contact technical support.
