Engee documentation

Electrical Circuit Modelling course

Description

The Electrical Circuit Simulation course is designed to learn visual modelling of analogue electrical circuits using the Engee platform. Modelling helps to investigate and design electrical circuits. For example, modelling is used to study the contribution of different circuit components to the overall system response.

Each section contains a theoretical part and assignments for self-completion.

Knowledge requirements: Completion of the courses Welcome to Engee course and Visual Modelling Course.

Total course time: ~4 hours.

Course Programme

Introduction to circuit modelling

An overview of Engee blocks for modelling electrical circuits is given and the low pass filter model is studied.

RC and RLC circuits

The basics of circuit design, modelling RC and RLC circuits and AC voltage source are studied.

Non-linear elements

Non-linear elements in electrical circuits are studied, modelling a DC power supply with a bridge rectifier and transformer.

Operational amplifiers

The modelling of an inverting and differential operational amplifier is studied.

Filter circuits

The modelling of analogue filters is studied: the RC low-pass filter and the Butterworth filter.

Generator with a Wien bridge

The modelling of a sine wave generator with a Wien bridge is studied.
