Power Systems Simulation
Description
The course Power Systems Simulation is designed to study the simulation of electric power systems using the Engee platform. You will learn the basics of power systems simulation using the example of a simple microgrid. You will learn how to simulate and measure the parameters of three-phase circuits, as well as use a droop control algorithm.
Each section contains a theoretical part and self-study tasks.
Knowledge requirements: completion of the courses Welcome to Engee, Visual Simulation and Fundamentals of Physical Simulation.

Course program
Introduction to the power systems simulation
A general idea of microgrids is given. The model of a synchronous generator with an active load and operation with a Synchronous Machine Measurement block is studied.
Three-phase systems
Brief theoretical information about three-phase circuits is given, blocks for simulating three-phase circuits (sources and loads) are studied, as well as methods for measuring voltage, current and power in three-phase circuit models.
Components of energy systems
Blocks for simulating synchronous machines, synchronous machine field circuits, as well as active and reactive loads with a wye and delta connection are studied. A generator model with an open-loop control system is being built.
System integration
Working with the Engee application Data Inspector
is studied. The integration of components into a microgrid and a droop control system in electric generators are studied. A microgrid model containing two generators with closed-loop control systems is being built.
