Power Systems Modelling Course

Description

The Power System Modelling course is designed to explore the modelling of power systems with usage of the Engee platform. You will learn the basics of power system modelling using a simple microgrid as an example. You will learn how to model and measure parameters of three-phase circuits and how to use static control algorithm.

Each section contains a theoretical part and assignments for self-completion.

Total course time: ~3 hours.

Course Programme

Introduction to modelling energy systems

A general introduction to microgrids is given. The model of synchronous generator with active load and work with the block Synchronous Machine Measurement is studied.

Three-phase systems

Provides a brief theoretical introduction to three-phase circuits, explores the blocks for modelling three-phase circuits (sources and loads) and how to measure voltage, current and power in three-phase circuit models.

Components of power systems

The blocks for modelling synchronous machines, synchronous machine excitation circuits and active and reactive loads with star and delta connections are studied. A model of a generator with an open loop control system is built.

Integration of systems

The use of the Engee application Data inspector data inspector icon . The integration of components in a microgrid and a static control system in electrical generators is studied. A microgrid model containing two generators with closed-loop control system is constructed.
