Description

Block Vapor Quality Sensor (2P) measures the proportion of steam in a two-phase liquid. This proportion can be expressed in mass (degree of dryness) or in volume (volume vapor content). Use the parameter Vapor fraction specification to specify the way to express the fraction of steam.

The unit measures the degree of dryness in port A and transmits its value as a scalar signal to port X. The value of the vapor fraction may vary from 0 for clean liquid up to 1 for pure steam. The intermediate values correspond to two-phase mixtures. The sensor is ideal, meaning there is no exchange of mass and energy.

If the pressure exceeds the critical point for the liquid, the vapor and liquid cease to exist, and the measurement becomes uncertain. In this case, the block outputs the value −1, which is used to indicate a critical or supercritical condition.

Parameters

Parameters

# Vapor fraction specification — the proportion of steam by mass or volume
Vapor quality | Vapor void fraction

Details

The type of measurement output to port X. Choose Vapor quality for the mass fraction of steam in a two-phase liquid. Or choose Vapor void fraction for the volume fraction of steam in a two-phase liquid. In both cases, the measurement value may vary from 0 before 1. For critical and supercritical fluids, the output value is −1.
