Floating Reference

Reference point for measuring the voltage of other components in an ungrounded circuit.

floating neutral (three phase)

Description

The unit Floating Reference provides an electrical reference point that can be used to measure the voltage of other nodes in an ungrounded electrical circuit.

Unlike the Electrical Reference block, which provides a connection to ground, this block uses capacitance to block DC current.

For details on the operating modes of a three-phase system connected in a * delta* pattern, refer to Problem solving for delta connection of transformer windings.

Ports

Non-directional

n - neutral
electricity

An electrical port whose direct current through it is zero. Use this port to measure the voltage of other nodes in an ungrounded electrical circuit.

Parameters

Capacitance - DC blocking capacitance
1 µF (by default) | positive scalar

The physical capacitance between an ungrounded circuit and ground. This capacitance blocks DC current.

Parasitic parallel conductance - Parasitic parallel conductance
`0 1/ohm (by default).

Presents small parasitic effects.

A non-zero value is required for modelling some circuit topologies.
