Flow Rate Sensor (G)

Measurement of mass, volume and energy flow in the gas network.

flow rate sensor (g)

Description

The Flow Rate Sensor (G) unit is an ideal sensor that measures mass flow rate, volume flow rate and energy consumption in a gas network. Pressure and temperature do not change in the sensor.

Since flow rate is a variable quantity, the unit must be connected in series with the component to be measured.

The mutual orientation of ports A and B sets the sign of the measurement. The measurement is positive if the flow is from port A to port B. Swapping the ports reverses the sign of the measurement.

Three ports are available for measurement data output:

  • Port M outputs the mass flow rate.

  • The V port outputs the volumetric flow rate.

  • Port φ outputs the energy flow rate.

Use the unit parameters to open only those ports that are required for measurements in a particular model.

Ports

Output

M - mass flow rate, kg/sec
scalar

Output port for mass flow measurement.

Dependencies

To use this port, set Mass flow rate to on.

V - volumetric flow rate, m³/sec
scalar

Output port for volumetric flow rate measurement.

Dependencies

To use this port, set Volumetric flow rate to on.

φ - energy consumption, W
scalar

Output port for measuring energy consumption.

Dependencies

To use this port, set Energy flow rate to on.

Non-directional

A - sensor input
gas

Gas port. The flow rate is positive if gas flows from port A to port B.

B is the sensor output
gas

Gas port. The flow rate is positive if gas flows from port A to port B.

Parameters

Mass flow rate - Enable output port for mass flow rate measurement
On (by default) | Off

When this checkbox is selected, the M output port is opened to allow mass flow rate measurement.

Volumetric flow rate - Enables the output port for volumetric flow rate measurement
Disabled (by default) | On

When this checkbox is selected, the V output port is opened to allow volumetric flow rate measurement.

Volumetric flow measurement conditions - conditions for volumetric flow measurement
Actual conditions (By default) | Standard conditions.

Select whether the sensor calculates volumetric flow at actual operating conditions or at standard pressure and temperature:

  • `Actual conditions' - the sensor calculates the volumetric flow rate using density under actual system conditions.

  • `Standard conditions' - the sensor calculates the volumetric flow rate using density under standard conditions. When this option is selected, additional parameters are available to set the standard pressure and temperature.

Dependencies

This option is used when Volumetric flow rate is set to on.

Standard pressure - gas pressure at standard conditions
0.10132 MPa (by default).

Gas pressure at standard conditions.

Dependencies

This parameter is used when Volumetric flow rate is set to on and Volumetric flow measurement conditions is set to `Standard conditions'.

Standard temperature - gas temperature at standard conditions
20 °C (By default).

Gas temperature at standard conditions.

Dependencies

This parameter is used when Volumetric flow rate is set to on and Volumetric flow measurement conditions is set to `Standard conditions'.

Energy flow rate - Enable the output port for energy flow measurement
Enabled (By default) | `Disabled

When this checkbox is selected, the φ output port is opened to measure energy flow rate.
