Thermodynamic Properties Sensor (G)

Sensor for measurement of specific enthalpy, density, specific heat capacity at constant pressure and measurement of specific entropy.

thermodynamic properties sensor (g)

Description

The Thermodynamic Properties Sensor (G) unit is an ideal sensor that measures specific enthalpy, density, specific heat capacity at constant pressure and specific entropy in a gas network. There is no mass or energy flow through the sensor.

The unit measures these thermodynamic properties at a node connected to port A. The first three measurements (specific enthalpy, density, specific heat capacity at constant pressure) are made relative to absolute zero. There is no universal definition of what constitutes zero entropy, so you can use the block parameters to set a baseline entropy value to calibrate the sensor.

Ports

Output

h - specific enthalpy, J/kg
scalar

Output port for measuring the specific enthalpy of a gas.

Dependencies

This port is only used when Enthalpy is set to on.

ρ - density, kg/m³
scalar

Output port for measuring gas density.

Dependencies

This port is only used when the Density parameter is set to on.

cp - specific heat capacity at constant pressure, J/(kg*K)
scalar

Output port for measuring the specific heat capacity of a gas at constant pressure.

Dependencies

This port is only used when Specific heat is set to on.

s - specific entropy, J/(kg*K)
scalar

Output port for measuring the specific entropy of a gas.

Dependencies

This port is only used when the Entropy parameter is set to on.

Non-directional

A - sensor input
gas

Gas port. Connect this port to the node in the gas network where you want to measure thermodynamic properties. All measurements are made relative to absolute zero.

Parameters

Enthalpy - switching on the output port for specific enthalpy measurement
Off (by default) | On

Enables the output port for gas specific enthalpy measurement.

Density - switching on the output port for density measurement
On (By default) | Off.

Enables the output port for gas density measurement.

Specific heat - switch on the output port for specific heat measurement
Off (by default) | on.

Enables the gas specific heat output port.

Entropy - switching on the output port for specific entropy measurement
Off (by default) | On

Enables the output port for specific entropy measurement.

Specific entropy at reference pressure and temperature - Specific entropy used to calibrate the sensor
3.8635 kJ/(kg*K) (by default).

The sensor is calibrated to produce this entropy value when port A is at reference pressure and temperature.

Dependencies

This parameter is used when Entropy is set to on.

Reference pressure for specific entropy - reference pressure used to calibrate the sensor
0.101325 MPa (By default).

The sensor is calibrated to output the value specified by Specific entropy at reference pressure and temperature when port A is at reference pressure and temperature.

Dependencies

This parameter is used when Entropy is set to on.

Reference temperature for specific entropy - reference temperature used for sensor calibration
293.15 K (by default).

The sensor is calibrated to output the value specified by Specific entropy at reference pressure and temperature when port A is at reference pressure and temperature.

Dependencies

This parameter is used when Entropy is set to on.
