Liquid Properties Sensor (IL)
Measurement of density, bulk modulus of elasticity and air fraction in an isothermal liquid network.
Description
The Liquid Properties Sensor (IL) unit is an ideal sensor to measure mixture density, bulk modulus of elasticity and air fraction in an isothermal liquid network. There is no mass flow through the sensor.
The unit measures these properties on a node connected to port A. All measurements are made relative to absolute zero.
The block icon changes depending on the value of the parameters Density, Isothermal bulk modulus and Fraction of air that is entrained.
Ports
Output
rho - density, kg/m³
scalar
Signal output port for measuring the density of an isothermal liquid mixture.
Dependencies
To use this port, select the Density checkbox.
beta - bulk modulus of elasticity, Pa
scalar
Signal output port for measuring the volumetric modulus of elasticity of an isothermal liquid mixture.
Dependencies
To use this port, select the Isothermal bulk modulus checkbox.
theta - air fraction
scalar
Signal output port for measuring the fraction of entrained (undissolved) air:
.
The value 1
means that there is no dissolved air. A value of 0
means that all air is dissolved.
Dependencies
To use this port, select the Fraction of air that is entrained checkbox.
Parameters
Density - visibility of the output port for density measurement
On (by default)
| Off
Checking this box opens the rho output port, which allows to measure the density of the liquid.
Isothermal bulk modulus - visibility of the output port for the measurement of the bulk modulus of elasticity
enabled
| disabled (by default)
Checking this box opens the beta output port for measuring the bulk modulus of an isothermal liquid mixture.
Fraction of air that is entrained - visibility of the output port for measuring the fraction of air
On
| `Off (By default)
Checking this box opens the theta output port for measuring the fraction of air that is entrained (undissolved).
