Thermodynamic Properties Sensor (MA)

Measurement of specific enthalpy, density, specific heat capacity at constant pressure and specific entropy in a network of moist air.

thermodynamic properties sensor (ma)

Description

The Thermodynamic Properties Sensor (MA) unit is an ideal sensor that measures specific enthalpy, density, specific heat capacity at constant pressure and specific entropy in a network of moist air. There is no mass or energy flow through the sensor.

The unit measures these thermodynamic properties in a node connected to port A. With the Measurements based on parameter you can choose to output these measurements: normalised to the mass of the entire moist air mixture or to the mass of only dry air and gas impurities (without water vapour mass).

The specific entropy reference value used to calibrate the sensor is 0 for each component of the moist air mixture at atmospheric pressure and atmospheric temperature.

Ports

Output

h - specific enthalpy, J/kg
scalar

Signal output port for measuring specific enthalpy in a humid air network.

Dependencies

To use this port, select the Enthalpy checkbox.

ρ - density, kg/m³
scalar

Signal output port for density measurement in wet air network.

Dependencies

To use this port, select the Density checkbox.

cp - specific heat capacity at constant pressure, J/(kg⋅K)
scalar

Signal output port for measuring the specific heat capacity of moist air at constant pressure.

Dependencies

To use this port, select the Specific heat checkbox.

s - specific entropy, J/(kg⋅K)
scalar

Signal output port for measuring the specific entropy of humid air.

Dependencies

To use this port, select the Entropy checkbox.

Non-directional

A - sensor input
`humid air

Humid air port, corresponds to the sensor input. Connect this port to the node in the humid air network where you want to measure the thermodynamic properties.

Parameters

Measurements based on - measurement output option
Mixture air (by default) | `Dry air and trace gas `

Select the option to output measurements normalised to the mass of the entire moist air mixture or to the mass of only dry air and trace gas (without moisture).

  • Mixture air - for each thermodynamic property, the measured mass of that property in the volume of moist air is divided by the mass of the moist air mixture itself.

  • Dry air and trace gas - for each thermodynamic property, the measured mass of this property in the volume of moist air is divided by the mass of dry air and gas impurities (excluding the mass of water vapour).

Enthalpy - Enable or disable the output port for specific enthalpy measurement
off (by default) | on

Checking this box enables the h output port to measure the specific enthalpy of the air mixture.

Density - enables or disables the output port for density measurement
enabled (by default) | enabled

Checking this box enables the ρ output port to measure the density of the air mixture.

Specific heat - Enable or disable the output port for specific heat measurement
Off (By default) | On

Checking this box enables the cp output port to measure the specific heat of the air mixture.

Entropy - enables or disables the output port for specific entropy measurement
disabled (by default) | on

Checking this box enables the s output port to measure the specific entropy of the air mixture.
