Constant Power Load
Constant power load for a constant current source.
Description
The Constant Power Load unit realises a constant power load for a DC power source.
-
The unit delivers rated power as long as the DC source voltage is greater than or equal to the Minimum supply voltage.
-
When the DC supply voltage falls below the Minimum supply voltage, the load behaviour changes and the unit operates as a constant resistance. When the supply voltage becomes negative, the unit operates as a constant reverse conductance.
The block uses a third order polynomial spline with continuous derivatives to provide a smooth transition from one behaviour to the other. You can set the width of this transition using the Transition voltage width parameter.
Parameters
Main
Power consumed - power consumption
`100 W (By default)
The rated power consumed by the unit.
Dependencies
To use this parameter, set the Load Type parameter to DC
.
Minimum supply voltage - minimum DC supply voltage
20 V (by default)
.
The minimum DC supply voltage required for the unit to operate as a constant power load.
Reverse conductance - reverse conductance
1e-6 C (by default)
The value of reverse conductance when the supply voltage becomes negative.
Transition voltage width - transient voltage width
1e-3 V(by default)
Transition voltage width used to ensure a smooth transition from one block behaviour to another when the supply voltage drops below Minimum supply voltage or becomes negative.
