Diode
Piecewise linear diode.
Description
The Diode block represents a piecewise linear diode.
If the diode voltage is greater than the Forward voltage parameter value, the diode behaves as a linear resistor with low resistance determined by the On resistance parameter value and a series voltage source (diode voltage drop).
If the diode voltage is less than the forward voltage, the diode behaves as a linear resistor with low conductance defined by the Off conductance parameter value.
At forward bias, the diode characteristic is described by the equations:
,
,
where
-
- voltage;
-
- current;
-
- series source voltage;
-
- forward voltage;
-
- resistance at forward bias;
-
- conductivity at reverse bias.
At reverse bias, the diode characteristic is described by the equation:
.
The term ensures that there is no gap in the current at the transition between forward and reverse bias.
Ports
+ - positive
electricity
Electrical port, represents the positive terminal of the diode.
- is the negative
electricity
Electrical port, represents the negative terminal of a diode.
