Rotational Damper

Viscous damper in mechanical rotating systems.

rotational damper

Description

The Rotational Damper unit represents an ideal mechanical rotational viscous damper described by the following equations:

ω

ωωω

Where:

  • - is the torque transmitted through the damper.

  • - damping coefficient (viscous friction).

  • ω - relative angular velocity.

  • ωω - absolute angular velocities at ports R and C respectively.

The positive block direction is from port R to port C. This means that the torque is positive if it acts in the direction from R to C.

Ports

Input

R - mechanical port
`rotational mechanics

Mechanical rotary port, corresponds to the damper input.

Output

C - mechanical port
`rotational mechanics

Mechanical rotary port, corresponds to the damper output.

Parameters
