Description

Block Rotational Damper It is an ideal mechanical rotational viscous damper described by the following equations:

ω

ωωω

Where:

  • — torque transmitted through the damper.

  • — damping coefficient (viscous friction).

  • ω — relative angular velocity.

  • ωω — absolute angular velocities at ports R and C, respectively.

The positive direction of the block is from port R to port C. This means that the torque is positive if it acts in the direction from R to C.

Ports

Input

R — mechanical port
rotational mechanics

Mechanical rotary port, corresponds to the Input of the damper.

Output

C — mechanical port
rotational mechanics

Mechanical rotary port, corresponds to the output of the damper.

Parameters

Damping coefficient, N*m/(rad/s) — damping coefficient
0.001 N*m/(rad/s) (by default)

The damping coefficient caused by viscous friction.

Initial value of rotational velocity, rad/s — initial value of angular velocity
0.0 (by default)

The initial value of the relative angular velocity.

Initial value of torque, N*m — initial value of torque
0.0 (by default)

The initial value of the torque.
