Constant Volume Chamber (IL)
Tank with one inlet and a fixed volume of isothermal liquid.
Description
The Constant Volume Chamber (IL) is a fixed volume vessel for isothermal liquid. The vessel has one inlet, labelled A.
The vessel can exchange mass with a connected isothermal liquid network. The pressure inside the chamber varies with the compressibility of the fluid.
The law of conservation of mass relates the mass flow rate to the pressure of the internal node representing the volume of the fluid:
where:
-
- is the mass flow rate at port A. The flow rate associated with the port is positive if the flow enters the block.
-
- pressure inside the vessel. There is no resistance to flow between port A and the interior of the chamber, so the pressure at port A is assumed to be equal to this pressure, .
-
- is the volume of liquid inside the vessel.
-
- is the density of the liquid mixture.
The fluid can be a mixture of pure liquid and a small amount of air, which is specified by the Isothermal Liquid Properties (IL) block connected to the circuit. The equations used to calculate , depend on the isothermal liquid model selected.
Ports
A - vessel inlet port
isothermal liquid
The isothermal liquid port corresponds to the vessel inlet.
Parameters
Chamber volume, m³ - vessel volume
`0.001 m³ (by default)
Capacity volume. The vessel is rigid, so its volume remains constant throughout the simulation.
Initial pressure of liquid volume, Pa - initial value of pressure in the vessel
`0.101325 MPa (by default).
Initial value of pressure in the vessel.
