The designer of the appearance of a two-boom UAV
This example shows how to create a generator of three-dimensional UAV models specified by geometric parameters of the fuselage, wings, tail and landing gear, for design analysis, development of recognition algorithms or flight simulators.
Description of the example
The parametric model makes it possible to quickly sort through configurations (wing position, tail boom geometry, fuselage shape) and choose a rational appearance for specified requirements in terms of weight, speed, and layout (for example, by forming your own model quality function).
The following libraries will allow us to work with geometric objects and grids:
Pkg.add(["GeometryBasics", "FileIO", "MeshIO", "PlotlyJS"])
The program for synthesizing the UAV model from geometric primitives is in the following file. Its execution creates a geometric final_mesh model and saves it to the drone_model.stl file, which can be downloaded and opened in a 3D editor (for example, imported into Blender).
include("$(@__DIR__)/drone_synthesis_twin_boom_v_tail_pusher_prop.jl")
You can visualize the created model using the following script:
include("$(@__DIR__)/visualize_last_mesh.jl")
The model can be customized to your own needs using 54 editable parameters, which are located in the file drone_synthesis_twin_boom_v_tail_pusher_prop.jl. Undoubtedly, much more parameters are needed for purging, but for visualization, including photorealistic, and for creating visual classification tools, for example, the parameters are quite sufficient.
Conclusion
This simple shape constructor provides reproducible generation of the STL geometry of a twin-boom UAV with a pusher propeller, which reduces the effort to create a three-dimensional model for blowing or simplified calculation of aerodynamics by taking into account geometric primitives, and also allows you to create a model for visualization or analysis of reflectivity.
