Simulation of a circuit breaker
This example demonstrates the simulation of a circuit breaker. The mechanism of an electromechanical switch is approximated by a first-order time constant, and it is assumed that the mechanical force is proportional to the load current. This simple representation is suitable for use in a larger model of an integrated system. When a voltage of 20 V is applied for one second, a current exceeding the rated current of the circuit breaker is generated, and therefore the switch is triggered. Then, after three seconds, the reset button is pressed and the voltage rises. The switch is then triggered just above the rated current of the circuit breaker.
